Lamb of God has been the chartering organization for Boy Scout Troop 265 for over 25 years. The troop currently has 47 members from age 11 to 17 and meets every Monday night at Lamb of God. The Boy Scout program is designed around outdoor activities to help the boys learn critical life skills; the Troop regularly camps or participates in planned activities to fulfill this part of the program.
Scouting aims to build character, teach "participating citizenship and democracy" and to develop mental, moral and physical characteristics. The Scout Law states that a scout is "trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent".
Sponsorship of Troop 265 by Lamb of God provides an environment for the boys to mature in their abilities to live to the ideals of the scout law. The Troop has been successful in this by advancing 65 boys to the rank of Eagle Scout (Scouting's highest individual achievement) over the history of the Troop. More importantly, the Troop helps to teach the boys how to live the values of their faith. In this way, Scouting is a wonderful extension of the ministry of the church as it provides an environment for the boys to grow into responsible young men within our community.
The boys and adult leaders of Troop 265 appreciate the ongoing support of Lamb of God through the provision of facilities for the Troop and of course for your prayers of support for the boys in our Troop.
